Osim prirodnih ljepota, Crna Gora takođe obiluje velikim brojem istorijskih spomenika, a tvrđava Vrmac predstavlja spoj i jednog i drugog!

Besides its natural beauty, Montenegro is also rich in historical landmarks, and Fort Vrmac represents a perfect combination of both.

Fort Vrmac is part of a large Austro-Hungarian fortification system in the Bay of Kotor and was once one of the most important strategic points in the region. The first fortification at this location was built around 1860, with the purpose of controlling the Bay of Kotor.

Although now abandoned, the fort remains one of the best-preserved Austro-Hungarian fortifications in the bay. It is located on Mount Vrmac, which is also a peninsula. Although geographically associated with Lovćen, it lies between the Bay of Kotor and the Bay of Tivat, offering stunning views of the Montenegrin coast from all sides.

In addition to visiting the fort, Mount Vrmac also offers several well-marked hiking trails, ranging from 1 km to 10 km in length, with fantastic viewpoints overlooking the Bay of Kotor.

This area can be visited throughout the year, but it is best to choose a nice, sunny day. The fort is easily accessible by car, but there are also several hiking trails leading directly to it, such as the serpentine trail starting from the village of Muo in Kotor.

In addition to Fort Vrmac, we also recommend visiting Fort Gorazda, which is located nearby and can also be reached by car.
